Once in France the distances traveling between tourist attractions may be quite far so you may need some transportation. Car Hire France is the best option for you to truly discover France at your own pace. If you want to rent a car then make sure bring along your passport, driver's license and a major credit card and present all of these to the car rental office. There is also an age requirement when renting cars which may vary with the different car rental companies. Usually the minimum age is 21 or 23 but if you want to rent and expensive car then certain companies may require that you be at least 25.
Try to get a weekly rental car with unlimited mileage. These cars may be driven into Germany, Switzerland or Spain but are forbidden to be transported into ferries including across the Channel to England.
When filling up your rented car with gas, you may notice that the prices for gas are much higher then that in North America. Gas, known as essence in France, has a higher octane rating compared to other countries.
Taking the train is much cheaper than renting a car and is a much faster way to travel between the different French cities. The world's fastest train links some 50 French cities allowing you to reach just about anyplace in the country within hours.
