Paris is the city of France that tourists usually visit first. The French capital has many tree lined boulevards and many of the building architecture are magnificent. Even though the city is modest in size there are a lot of tourist attractions in here. The Eiffel tower has come to symbolize the city. This historical monument was built during 1889 as the centerpiece of the World's Fair. Try to climb to the top of the Eiffel tower and have a magnificent view of the city below. The Louvre is also located in Paris. It is a world famous art museum and was once the residence of kings.

Going away from Paris we have the Loire Valley. It was once the capital of the French aristocracy and is dotted with many beautiful castles. Try not to miss out Chartres with its 13th century Gothic Cathedral which is now designated by the United Nations as an International Cultural Heritage Site.

One of the world's most popular tourist destinations is the French Riviera. It stretches along the Mediterranean coast at the foot of the Alps. The epitome of the French Riviera is St. Tropez with its multi million dollar yachts docked in the bay. In less than two hours you can travel from the sandy beaches of the coast to the cool air of the Alps.

A famous historical place to visit in France is the Normandy beaches which was the setting of Operation Overlord during World War II. It is now a scenic and calm region with pretty fishing harbors and charming resorts. There are a lot of museums to visit in the area which all honor the heroes who fought during World War II.
