Beauty products are what most tourists readily look for. Designer make-up is best bought in duty free stores which are aplenty in the city of Paris.
Stores that sell earthenware are popular among cities in the North from Rouen in the northeast to Quimper on the Atlantic coast. Copper cooking pots are a specialty among the villages in Normandy and these are what tourists buy. The pots are copper lined, many with beautiful designs the industry have been making this since the 17th century.
For those who want to shop for food, the popular choices are cheese and chocolate. A reminder however, cheeses could only be brought back to the United States if they have aged for more than 90 days. Chocolates could be bought at designer stores but if you want quality chocolates then head out to the chocolatiers Lyons or Paris where you could purchase handmade fresh chocolates.
There are a variety of wines and champagnes to choose from in France. Most wine stores stock a vast selection of Bordeaux, Burgundy, Alsace, and Champagne. Sometimes stores may give discounts to buyers but only up to 3 or 6 bottles.
